Our Social Action Group organized another volunteering activity, in collaboration with Down Madrid, in which more than 30 Management Solutions volunteers were able to share a day of fun with a group of 14 to 16 year-olds with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities. On this occasion, the activity took place at the Open Center for nature preservation in El Escorial, and included the participation of six children from the Ideo School, creators of the "Help the World" app and winners of the prize to the most socially aware project within the "Creating our Own Project" program organized by the Créate Foundation.
The day started at the Down Madrid headquarters, where everyone was introduced before heading for El Escorial by coach. Once at the Open Center, the Down Madrid youths, the Créate Foundation children and the Management Solutions volunteers organized into several groups each with an Open Center coach to guide them during their visit around the facilities.
During the tour, the groups enjoyed themselves as they sighted animals such as goats, turtles, boars or deer, among others. Also, as a last stop participants had the opportunity to see wolves as they were being fed by the caretakers. The day ended with a fun workshop during which the young people, together with the volunteers, learnt to make candles and modelled figures from clay that they took home as a souvenir of the day.
