Solidarity Summer 2017 in Nicaragua

Management Solutions professionals who participated in the Solidarity Summer program 2017 presented the work carried out in July and August in Waslala (Nicaragua)

As they do each year, Management Solutions professionals who participated in the Solidarity Summer program 2017 presented the volunteering activities they undertook in July and August. This time, 34 volunteers from our offices in Brazil, Chile, Spain, United States, Mexico and United Kingdom, organized into two groups due to the initiative's success, travelled to Nicaragua ready to collaborate with the Waslala rural development project launched by Fundación Madre Tierra (FUMAT) together with Ayuda en Acción. The project aims to reduce poverty in rural areas through preventive or direct initiatives such as the provision of training on rural economy and agricultural techniques, raising awareness of childcare, and providing school/psychosocial support to the children.

In the presentation, the volunteers described the main activities carried out during the weeks spent on the project, emphasizing the school work support for the children through tuition in Maths, Spanish, English language, etc., the construction of an educational playground for the children to have fun while using recycled materials, or their work on a biointensive vegetable garden so that the Waslala children can have a wider variety of fruit and veg.

As in previous occasions, the volunteers highlighted the enriching nature of the Solidarity Summer program, an initiative that contributed to their personal growth by helping others.
