Once again, MS has offset CO₂ emissions from its Yearly Meeting
For the third year in a row, the Firm has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by minimizing the environmental impact of its annual event
First, efforts were focused on reducing and minimizing emissions generated by the event (the most extensive and wide-reaching organized by the Firm). Unavoidable emissions were offset through a reforestation project with positive environmental, social, and economic impact.
Specifically, 344 trees were planted in the town of Caminomorisco (Cáceres, Spain) as part of Fundación Repsol’s Motor Verde program, in an area affected by a forest fire in 2012. This initiative will make it possible to progressively absorb the emissions generated by the event over the trees’ lifetime (approximately 50 years).
With this new planting, Management Solutions’ corporate forest in Caminomorisco now totals 866 native trees, including native species such as pines, strawberry trees, and cork oaks, capable of capturing more than 213 tons of CO₂ from the atmosphere. The project, registered with the Spanish Office for Climate Change, generates a triple positive impact: environmental benefit, social impact through the promotion of local employment and inclusion of vulnerable groups, and contribution to the economic development of the Las Hurdes region by restoring forest ecosystems and recovering biodiversity.
